Travel Jealousy

My December is an action packed month of exotic locations. In the first part of the month, I am heading to Chicago and then Singapore for work. I will barely be in Singapore long enough to justify the 40+ hours of flying, however it will be 4 days longer than I’ve ever been there before.

My real travel excitement is my Christmas break. My family has been discussing doing a trip in lieu of trees and gifts for years. So we’re heading to Mexico -to a swanky resort south about 30 minutes south of Cancun.

Each room has a whirlpool and a hammock. There are many pools with swim up bars, bicycle paths, and several restaurants. There are Mayan ruins nearby, as well as some scuba and horseback riding options. The Coco’s will be blissfully relaxing with margaritas and books poolside on Christmas.

From Mexico, I fly to Raleigh for New Years to meet up with Kent, and hopefully some others, to head to his family cabin in the mountains in North Carolina. Here there is also a hot tub, as well as a fireplace and views that look like this.

Beaches, mountains, sun and snow all in one week. I can’t wait. Of course I am more than mildly worried that my bragging is going to land me a case of Asian sickness or Mexican stomach cramps. But I will hydrate, sleep well, and remain grateful for such a fun upcoming Christmas. Hopefully Murphy’s Law will only come looking for a suitcase.

  • Oh my God. Oh my God. I am speechless with envy. Kristiiinnnneeee, take me with you! I've always (well, all 2+ years I've known you) wanted to be a Coco b/c of the awesomeness of the name, but I have never had such Coco-family-inclusion longing as I do now. That place looks AMAZING (screw the snowy mountains, I'm talking about Mexico!) Drool-drool.
