A touch of OCD for your SXSW

It's that time of year again - preparation for SXSW has begun. This time with the full force of collaborative nerdiness making it more efficient!

Brian, Randy and I are going to collaborate on sorting through new bands to find good shows. Brian made a Perl script to pull mp3 files off SXSW's page. I am hosting a Google spreadsheet for us to add comments about all the MP3s.

For the last couple of years, I've hosted a shared calendar that had recommendations for people to pull potential bands from (an idea I stole from my friend Lulu). It's good to have lots of options since lines can be unpredictable. The bitch of it was that I was the Excel monkey who had to update it every time someone gave me a list.

Not this year! Google spreadsheets to the rescue! Here's the shared online SXSW calendar. It updates every 15 minutes. It can be subscribed to by RSS feed and has multiple authors.

If I can track down the person who is making a big Google map of all the SXSW music venues, we'll be all set for prepping for SXSW.

Now all we need is the schedule, and sample MP3s.
