A-choo!
So it's 11:20 pm on a Thursday night, and I am curled up beneath my covers. I am mouth breathing since my nose is too full of snot to allow air through. My nostrils are also getting those stylish red rings around them from so much one-on-one love with the tissues.
I cough. My eyes water. My whole body aches (even my teeth). I'm exhausted.
Thirty minutes ago I was at Stubb's watching Midori Umi (aka as Liz's boyfriend Ryan's band), but was too tired and mucus-y to enjoy it. So I left. After 2.5 songs.
In short, i feel like hell. And this hell is location-based. It's Cedar Fever found in Central Texas. Grrr.
I went to the doctor this morning for more drugs, since the allergy medicine I've been taking hasn't been working. He could've recommended I do lines of coke daily, and I'd consider it since I feel so crappy. He gave me some frightful nose spray, which I'll hate using and in the past, have refused to use. But hey, I'm tired of feeling sick. He also recommended I get out of town for the weekend. Even a drive to the coast would clear me up, he said.
It's tempting. And I've got some free time so maybe I'll head out next week.
While allergy sickness has slowed me down in my newfound free time, it hasn't ruined it. I've been running errands, taking unplanned naps, watching movies, and seeing friends.
And tonight, I got a fabulous massage from Liz before cooking night started at her place.
I made my first cake from scratch today, which is an accomplishment in my book. It's probably a bit overdue, but I'll take it. I figured out why I've never been much of a baker. I have crappy tools (I am buying new bowls and a mixer tomorrow) and cake out of a box isn't very fun to make. There is no challenge in 2 eggs and some oil.
There is some challenge in melting chocolate and putting together batter from flour and butter. I made plain vanilla cake with chocolate chips and milk chocolate icing. It's not my favorite kind of cake, but everyone at cooking night liked it and I'll eat it for breakfast.
I'm going to make brownies from scratch tomorrow.
And assuming I can breath through my nose, I am heading to yoga after my cake and milk breakfast (the Yogis will be so unhappy with me).
Since my To-Do list is getting shorter and my allergies should be beat back by new medicines, I plan to do some fun stuff next week, like take Amber on hikes, cook, and read.
