summer of sun

Upon my return from Montana, I've been itching to get some outside Austin fun in. And frankly I have some good summer fun lined up, if I do say so myself.

I went tubing on the Guadalupe on Saturday. A crowd of us rented tubes, and tubes for our coolers of beer... and floated. It was a little MTV spring break meets trashy Texas, but only in the best guys crushing beer cans on their foreheads way. In all seriousness, there were some guys who had a beer funnel set up camped out on one small bank. Incidentally, they made friends with the boob job Texas bikini girl. For the rest of us, we hooked our feet together, laid back and floated on by.

This weekend, a bunch of us are heading out to Lake Travis for more floating with beer, and possibly some jumping off cliffs.

Sunday I leave for what will be my craziest week of travel ever. I am going on a Studio Tour, which involves 4 cities, 5 airports, several hotels, a ton of meetings and hopefully, some good food. My week looks like this:
Monday - LA
Tuesday -San Diego
Wednesday - Seattle for not even enough time to go walk around the office :(
Thursday - Chicago
Friday - short morning meeting in Chicago office, followed by decadent lunch that runs stright into happy hour

Actually I am staying in Chicago through the weekend to hang out with some friends, including my bbf. I've never been to Chicago and I hear this is the time of year to go.

In late July, I am heading to Palm Springs for Alana's bachelorette party. It will involve wine, a pool, spa treatments, and no strippers. We're staying at the Viceroy, which is apparently a totally cool, swank place to go. Normally, I'd say bachelorette parties aren't my thing, but who the hell can say no to a summer weekend in Palm Springs.

In August, we're going camping at Inks Lake. The park seems quite pretty and it has lots of stuff to do - kayaking, swimming and hiking. We're going to cheese out a little and get mini-cabins, which are essentially air-conditioned tents. But it's Texas August, and A/C camping seems better than the camping where I stab Kent for using the last ice cube.

Labor Day weekend, I head up to Napa Valley to participate in Alana & Mike's hitching ceremony. They are all over the vacation for friends ceremony, and I gotta like drawing summer (well technical summer in Texas at least) to a close tasting wines at 10 am before getting ready to tuck into a bridemaid dress.
